POLITICS – The Court of Appeal in Lagos is scheduled to deliver its judgement on Wednesday, November 15th, regarding the appeal against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.
The appeal was filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, and Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The court has notified all parties involved that the judgement will be announced at 3 pm
It is worth mentioning that the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal previously dismissed the case brought by the Labour Party candidate, challenging Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the 2023 governorship election.
The election tribunal has announced that Sanwo-Olu is the rightful governor of the state. They have stated that Rhodes-Vivour’s petition has no merit.
Rhodes-Vivour, who was the candidate for the Labour Party, had gone to the tribunal to contest Sanwo-Olu’s win in the March 18 elections.
He requested that the results be invalidated due to Sanwo-Olu’s lack of qualification and involvement in corrupt practices.
Additionally, he accused the governor of not following the rules outlined in the Electoral Act of 2022.
