The Governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, commended Peter Obi, a former Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, for his recent remarks on the importance of Nigeria becoming more productive.
Bago expressed his appreciation for Obi’s comments after receiving the Leadership Governor of the Year 2023 Award in Abuja.
“We have cleared deliberately over a million hectares of land. So, my boss (Peter-Obi), you’re very right to what you have said. We have no reason to be poor.”
“People may not like you, but they must hear you. Because what you say is the Gospel Truth.
“Nigeria needs to be PRODUCTIVE.. You cannot be out of poverty unless you start to produce….”, he said.
He emphasized that Nigeria has abundant resources to feed itself and even export, highlighting Niger State‘s leading role in agriculture with over a billion dollars in investments.
The Governor assured that with the agricultural policies in place, both Niger State and Nigeria as a whole will have enough food for both local consumption and export.
Bago also thanked the Leadership Group for recognizing their efforts and promised to continue justifying the honor.
