Xabi Alonso is favoured to take over as Real Madrid’s manager in the event that Carlo Ancelotti leaves the club. The former Real Sociedad B head coach has excelled at Bayer Leverkusen, who are presently leading the Bundesliga.
In a recent interview, Alonso talked about his future and stated that he will be the only one to decide what his next position will be, whether it’s at Real Madrid or somewhere else.
“Whether you want to be forced to make decisions for other people or whether you prefer to make your own decisions is up to you. And I have been explicit thus far. I’ll make my own choices when I think the moment is appropriate. Thus, that is undoubtedly what will occur.”
Real Madrid would benefit greatly from having both Alonso and Ancelotti on staff. The board may elect to keep the Italian in charge for a little while longer before choosing Alonso in the future. The Italian has led the team successfully twice.
