Al-Ittihad Ready €150m Offer For Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah

Published:

Al-Ittihad are apparently ready to put Liverpool to the test with a €150 million (£129 million/$162 million) approach for Mohamed Salah before the summer transfer window shuts.

The Egypt international forward is under contract at Anfield until 2025 and has stated publicly that he has no intention of leaving. However, there have been claims that Saudi Arabian interest has turned his head.

Al-Ittihad, who already have Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema on their books, are contemplating a big-money approach for Salah, according to CBS Sports. They will also offer the 31-year-old a contract that would place him on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar in terms of salary.

A bid of £86 million ($108 million) in guaranteed payments and £43 million ($54 million) in performance-related bonuses would shatter the Saudi transfer record. Liverpool has no intention of sanctioning a deal, but their hand could be pushed if Salah decides to engage in negotiations.

Al-Ittihad are looking to add more marquee players ahead of the 2023 FIFA World Club Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia this December, with reports that they are considering a move for former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos, who is still a free agent at the age of 37.
