The founder and President of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Mike Dada,  has urged the federal government to collaborate with key entities in the creative sector and leverage the sector’s resources to boost economic advancement.

Dada noted that by implementing effective measures and forging strong partnerships with major stakeholders, the government can reverse the prevailing trend and tap into the economic rewards stemming from the global recognition of Nigerian music.

While acknowledging the historical lack of active government involvement in the growth of the country’s creative sector, Dada contends that the present moment demands prompt action and assertive leadership in the developmental process.

However, he advocates for collaborative efforts with major stakeholders in the creative sector to fully exploit the economic advantages associated with the global embrace of Nigerian music.

Dada expresses confidence in President Tinubu‘s potential to make a positive impact on the entertainment sector, citing past support for creative initiatives and a profound understanding of the power of the creative industry and tourism.

To harness the global success of Nigerian music for economic benefits, Dada proposes the identification of key platforms in the creative sector and the establishment of partnerships.

Meanwhile, Dada recommends the government’s active engagement in the development and support of music festivals, both existing ones like Felabration, Headies, SoundCity Music Awards, AMAA, AFRIFF, and AFRIMA, and the creation of new events. This strategy aims to attract tourists, generate revenue, and strengthen the country’s economy by capitalizing on the widespread respect and acceptance of African music worldwide.

Additionally, Dada underscores the importance of sustained efforts to manage and uphold the success story of African music, highlighting its unique potential to significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth.
