The preliminary draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will take place today at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
CAF announced this in a statement on their official website released by the Communication Department on Monday.
The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, Morocco 2025 preliminary round, will happen after the 34th edition of the competition.
The draw is scheduled for Tuesday at 14:00 local time (12:00 GMT).
The statement read, “The preliminary round will include the eight lowest-ranked teams according to the FIFA ranking.“
Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, Chad, Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia, and Eswatini.
“The matches will be played on home and away basis during the FIFA Window of March 18 to March 26.
“The four preliminary round winners will join the 44 exempted teams for the group stage.”
The 2023 AFCON took place in Côte d’Ivoire and was won by the host team, the Elephants, who beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2-1 in the tournament final.
