Algeria has banned the American picture Barbie, which has been playing in local theaters for several weeks.
The authorities claim that the film, which was released last month, violates Algerian moral norms.
According to Reuters, an official source stated that the video “promotes homosexuality and other Western deviances” and “does not comply with Algeria’s religious and cultural beliefs.”
After its July 21 premiere, the Barbie film has already crossed the billion-dollar threshold.
Other countries, notably Lebanon and Kuwait, have banned the film on moral grounds.
