Southampton are said to have rejected Liverpool‘s fresh £41 million ($52.32 million) bid for Romeo Lavia, with the Reds instead interested in Fluminense star Andre.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool increased their bid for Lavia after the Saints rejected their initial approach of £37 million ($48 million). However, the revised offer of £41 million, including add-ons, was rejected because it fell short of Southampton’s £50 million ($64 million) assessment.
As a result, Liverpool is looking at market options. It has been stated that they have been keeping an eye on Fluminense midfielder Andre as a backup option in case they are unable to strike an agreement with Southampton for Lavia.
Liverpool are aggressively seeking midfield reinforcements in the market following the exits of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq, respectively. They’ve already signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but they’re looking to add more depth before the summer window shuts.
It remains to be unclear whether Liverpool will pursue Lavia further or concentrate their efforts on Andre, with Jurgen Klopp now preparing his side for a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
