Chelsea defender Reece James has had a scan on a knee issue as the team prepares for their pre-season tour in the United States.
James will have a knee scan before the Blues’ travel to the United States, where they will face Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle, Fulham, and Borussia Dortmund. According to The Athletic, the England international is still expected to be included in the team because the issue is fairly minor.
James had an injury-plagued 2022-23 season, with only 14 Premier League starts. He was ruled out twice due to knee issues and once due to a hamstring ailment.
According to the article, the defender followed a pre-season workout regimen even when on vacation in Dubai. He missed the final seven games of the season and has a battle to match the rest of the group in terms of fitness.
James will be hoping to be fit for Chelsea’s first friendly against Wrexham.
