Paris Saint-Germain beat Montpellier 6-2 in Ligue 1 as Kylian Mbappé scored a brilliant hat-trick.

The reigning champions, looking to secure their 12th league title, ended a three-game winning streak in Ligue 1 to move 12 points ahead of second-placed Brest.

Vitinha, Lee Kang-in, and Nuno Mendes also scored for PSG.

After drawing three straight games in Ligue 1 before tonight’s clash, PSG looked set to add a fourth game at half-time.

After building a two-goal lead thanks to Vitinha and Mbappé, with the first goal a masterstroke on the messy Stade de la Mosson pitch, the champions allowed Montpellier back into the game by conceding two goals.

Arnaud Nordin looked dangerous in brief bursts in the first 30 minutes before scoring his side’s first goal before Teji Savanier converted a controversial penalty just before half-time.

It was an oversight that has become all too common for Luis Enrique’s team this season.

But clearly outraged by the penalty awarded for a foul by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG completely dominated the second half with a brutal level of authority.

Mbappé scored his hat-trick, and the second goal was a phenomenal shot from outside the penalty area.,

Lee Kang-in followed with a superb left-footed goal that left Dimitry Bertaud defenseless.

In fact, the goalkeeper was unable to stop PSG in the entire second half, and Montpellier’s midfield and defense were also unable to stop PSG at that point.

From then on, PSG saw the game through in style.

Mbappe scored his third goal with a good run and finish, and then 21-year-old Nuno Mendes slipped into the box and fired past Bertaud.
