Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was warmly welcomed back to South African club Chippa United on Tuesday after his impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Upon arriving at Port Elizabeth Airport, the 27-year-old was greeted by hundreds of Chippa United fans. In a video shared on Tuesday, he was shown interacting with supporters, taking selfies, and joining in singing the club’s anthem.

Chippa United celebrated his return on their social media with the message, “He’s Back #NwabaliBobo.”

Nwabali’s exceptional performance in AFCON 2023 led to him receiving cash gifts, a national honor, and a chieftaincy title in his hometown.

As a result of his success, Nwabali is being considered for potential transfers to other clubs, such as Kaizer Chiefs and Union St. Gilloise.
