FCT, Abuja: A group of protesters, led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), have surrounded the National Assembly Complex in Abuja to voice their concerns about the increasing economic difficulties and rising living expenses.

The protesters were holding various signs that criticized the state of the country’s economy.

Allub Times recalls that the NLC had announced Tuesday, the 27th, and Wednesday, the 28th, as days for nationwide protests to draw the government’s attention to the hardships faced by Nigerians due to the removal of fuel subsidies and the devaluation of the naira.

Despite a last-minute meeting with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has decided to proceed with the planned nationwide protest scheduled for today (Tuesday).

Following a closed-door meeting with journalists, NLC president Joe Ajaero stated that the protest would continue as scheduled.

He also called on security forces to ensure the safety of the protesters and mentioned that their list of demands would be presented to the National Assembly today.

The protesters gathered at the White House entrance, chanting “hunger dey,” which translates to “there is hunger” in pidgin English.
