Violence erupted at the Oluwole Market in Ogba, Lagos, causing a disruption in business activities due to clashes between the Yoruba and Hausa communities.

The conflict started on Thursday night and continued into Friday morning, resulting in the tragic death of a young man, which further escalated tensions between the two groups.

According to the Daily Trust, the clash began when a Yoruba man named Abbey tried to break up a fight between two Hausa men.

During the altercation, Abbey was reportedly stabbed by an unknown attacker, leading to his death.

Following Abbey’s death, there was a retaliatory attack between Yoruba and Hausa residents, leading to the destruction of property, especially food items like peppers, onions, and other goods sold by Hausa traders at the market.

As a result of the clashes, business activities came to a halt, causing significant disruption and worry among the local residents.

Witnesses noted an increased police presence in the market area, with patrol vehicles trying to maintain order and restore peace.
