Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially sworn in the nine commissioners who were re-nominated after resigning from his cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Governor Fubara acknowledged that the commissioners had resigned due to being caught in a crossfire.

The nine commissioners all took their oaths simultaneously, starting with the oath of allegiance, followed by the oath of office.

Governor Fubara congratulated the commissioners and encouraged them to prioritize the best interests of the state in their roles.

“I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing.

“I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught between the crossfire,” Fubara said.

The initial reason for the commissioners’ resignation was the disagreement between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
