No Dispute Between Oshiomhole And I – Ize-Iyamu

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a candidate for governorship in Edo State, has denied rumors of a disagreement with Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ize-Iyamu stated that he has a good and friendly relationship with Oshiomhole.

“I will tell you categorically that we are on good terms. There is no quarrel between myself and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“We have worked closely throughout the party formation to begin to quarrel unnecessarily. The fact that we disagree does not mean that there is a problem. He has a strong personality, and I also have that. So we are bound to disagree,” he stated.

The ruling party has scheduled its primary for February 17 in preparation for the governorship election in Edo State on September 21.

There have been reports that Ize-Iyamu was disqualified from the primary by a screening committee allegedly formed by Oshiomhole. However, Ize-Iyamu has denied this claim and stated that he is still in the running. In an interview, he emphasized that the decision of who becomes the APC flagbearer is not up to one person.

Ize-Iyamu acknowledged Oshiomhole as a highly respected party member but stated that he does not have the authority to determine the APC governorship candidate.

He stated, “The issue of who becomes a candidate is not a decision for one man. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is highly respected in our party, but even him, will not tell you that ‘I will decide who will be.”
