Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti recently shared a thought-provoking perspective on spirituality, revealing in a Friday interview with Hiptv that he does not subscribe to the belief in God.
Kuti articulated his scepticism about the conventional concept of a divine figure overseeing everyone’s actions and passing judgement after death.
In his own words, he stated, “I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe in the concept of this guy watching everyone’s, and he will judge you when you die. I don’t believe in the concept that people believe in God. I don’t believe that there is something responsible for the creation of the world.”
Kuti went on to challenge the notion of offering credit to a creator, especially in the face of widespread human suffering. He pondered, “If someone created this, are we supposed to be giving the person credit? 80 percent of human beings are living in hunger, and we are supposed to be his most prized possession. There is something, but not the way we are told that it is.”
