President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the suspension, removal, and replacement of six Chief Executive Officers within the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. This decision was announced in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, a media aide to the president, on Wednesday, December 13.
As per the statement, Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has been removed from his position and replaced by Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku.
Additionally, Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has also been removed and replaced by Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk.
Similarly, Engr. Akinola Olateru, the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has been removed from his role and replaced by Mr. Alex Badeh Jnr.
Ajuri has announced that Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), has been removed from his position and replaced by Prof. Charles Anosike.
Similarly, Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), has been removed and replaced by Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector. This is in accordance with Section 13(2) of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022, until a permanent Rector is appointed.
Additionally, Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has been suspended to allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct an unbiased investigation into the activities of the suspended Director-General and other senior officials in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
As a result, Capt. Chris Najomo has been appointed as the Acting Director-General of the NCAA by the president.
