Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, has been recognized as the lawful winner of the electoral process.
The Presidential Election Petitions Court issued its decision on Wednesday.
While ruling on whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was correct in returning Tinubu as the duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast, the Tribunal held that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, did not successfully prove his petition to remove Tinubu from office.
The petition submitted by the Labour Party‘s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was likewise dismissed by the tribunal.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, while giving his verdict on Wednesday, said, “This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.”
