West Ham missed an opportunity to move closer to the top four teams in the Premier League after they drew 0-0 with Brighton at the London Stadium on Monday.

Despite having several defensive players out due to injury and suspension, Brighton managed to keep a clean sheet and deserved to win based on their performance in the second half.

Brighton had the majority of possession but struggled to create scoring opportunities.

Alphonse Areola made several impressive saves to deny Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro, Pascal Gross, and Adam Lallana, ensuring that West Ham maintained their unbeaten streak.

Although West Ham have earned 10 out of a possible 12 points during the festive season, they are still six points behind the top four teams.

The home team’s attack was weakened because Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus were injured. Unfortunately, Kudus was not allowed to play in his last club game before the Africa Cup of Nations by the Ghanaian federation.

West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse had the best chance to score, but Jason Steele made a save before halftime.

Brighton only needs one point to move ahead of Manchester United into seventh place, but they are still three points behind West Ham in sixth.
