Nduka Ugbade, a former captain of the Golden Eaglets, commended the Nigeria Premier Football League for implementing a youth league.
He believes that this competition is perfect for nurturing young talents in the country.
As a coach for the U-17 team, Ugbade emphasized the importance of clubs properly developing the talents they discover.
“There is nothing as good as developing the youths through the NPFL U17 Youth League,” he told NPFL media at the playoffs venue in Benin City.
“This must continue. The issue is not once; it must be a thing that is continuous, like FIFA has done for its U17 World Cup by making it an annual event.”
Rangers will play against Plateau United on Wednesday at 2 p.m. during day three of the competition. Following that, Katsina United will face off against Remo Stars at 4 p.m.
The playoffs are being held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
