Burna Boy appears to have indirectly referred to his colleague Davido as a “joke” in a renewed rivalry.
The self-acclaimed African Giant made the veiled remark following a Davido fan’s derogatory comment, labeling him “ode” for losing four Grammys.
Responding to the fan’s comment on a post on Burna Boy’s social media handle, the fan, who had Davido as their profile picture, wrote: “Ode, bottled four Grammys.” Burna Boy retorted, “The real joke is in your display picture.”
Subsequently, Burna Boy deleted his comment after the fan changed their profile picture from Davido to Burna Boy himself.
Another fan attempted to mock Burna Boy for deleting his comment, to which the singer explained that he did so because the troll changed their profile picture.
The fan quipped, “Burna Boy can’t handle criticism? Did he back down?” Burna Boy responded, “Didn’t you notice that he changed it to my picture? Am I the joke?”
Despite Burna Boy’s deletion of the comment, it has sparked widespread criticism on social media and reignited the longstanding rivalry between the two artists, with fans of both engaging in heated debates to defend their favorites.
