Official negotiations to sign OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo, a target for Manchester United, are reportedly underway at Tottenham Hotspur as of January 1, according to Football London.
Spurs had a very thin defensive line to begin the season, and Ange Postecoglou was forced to use Ben Davies in the centre of defence after Micky van de Ven suffered an injury. Although the Welshman is naturally a left-back, he has performed admirably in the Netherlands international’s absence.
It has been rumoured that the Lilywhites have chosen to add a new defender to bolster their defence. Lloyd Kelly and Jarrad Branthwaite are two players who have been identified as possible targets for Postecoglou’s team; however, Todibo is starting to show himself as a viable alternative.
According to reports, Manchester United has identified the Frenchman as a top target in their pursuit of a new defender for January. But it appears that the North London team is stepping up their efforts in an attempt to surpass United in this rave.
Todibo is one of Tottenham’s top targets as they prioritise bolstering their defence in January, according to a report by Football London. The report also claims that the Spurs have officially begun negotiations about making a move for him in the upcoming month.
With 32 points from 16 games, Nice has had a strong season thus far. Todibo has been a mainstay in Francesco Farioli’s starting lineup. Nice is currently second in Ligue 1. Because Nice wouldn’t want to lose their star player in the middle of the season, it won’t be easy for Manchester United or Tottenham to sign him in January.
The defender still has more than three and a half years left on his current contract; Transfermarkt values him at approximately £30 million. Nice will therefore be well-positioned to demand a high fee should they be obliged to cash in next year.
