President Bola Tinubu met with the 14th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, in the State House on Thursday.

Sanusi’s visit, the first since the President took office, comes just one week after the President fired CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.

As of press time, the agenda for the meeting was unknown.

Sanusi led the CBN from June 2009 to June 2014, when Emefiele took control.

On Friday, the President removed Emefiele as the head of the apex bank and directed that the bank’s Deputy Governor of Operations, Folashodun Shonubi, take over as interim governor.

The Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed Emefiele’s detention on Saturday.

The apex bank harmonized all segments of the currency market on Wednesday, merging all prior windows into one.
