Rivers Assembly Commences Impeachment Proceedings Against Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against the state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Members of the House of Assembly began the impeachment process at the parliamentary building at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, according to TVC News.

In addition, the assembly suspended the Speaker of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie, and four other MPs in connection with the arson attack on the House.

According to reports, 24 of the 32 MPs removed Ehie and four others from their jobs.

Visitodell earlier reported that the Rivers House of Assembly complex was taken over by men of the Nigeria Police as well as operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) following an explosion that went off at the Assembly compound on Sunday night.
