Rasmus Hojlund made history by becoming the youngest player to score in six consecutive Premier League games.
His goals helped Manchester United secure a 2-1 victory against Luton Town, boosting their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. The 21-year-old Dane scored his first goal in less than 40 seconds after taking advantage of Amari’i Bell’s mistake.
He then scored his second goal just seven minutes later by skillfully chesting in Alejandro Garnacho’s volley.
Luton took control of the game after responding and dominating the rest of the first half. Carlton Morris scored a header in the 14th minute, making him the first Hatters player to score in three consecutive Premier League matches.
United were lucky to finish the first half with all 11 players, as Casemiro avoided a second yellow card for a late challenge on Ross Barkley.
In the second half, the visitors missed several opportunities to score through Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho, and Hojlund. Despite this, Rob Edwards’ team couldn’t create a clear chance to equalize and earn a point.
United have won five matches in a row for the first time in over a year, moving them to within three points of Tottenham and five points off Aston Villa in fourth place.
Luton, on the other hand, have only won one of their last six games and are currently in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.
Next, Luton will face league leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, while Manchester United will host Fulham on Saturday.
