Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Enzo Fernandez will miss Chelsea’s clash at Wolves on Christmas Eve.
After just 32 minutes of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle on Tuesday, the World Cup winner was substituted off.
The manager of the midfield player later claimed that the player “felt sick” after he left the pitch, but Fernandez looked very distraught when he returned to thank the supporters, raising the possibility that he had suffered a serious injury.
Although those worries have been allayed, the Argentina international will miss the Blues’ next game due to a hernia; hopefully, he will return soon.
The game against Wolverhampton will not feature Enzo.
In his Friday press conference prior to the game, Pochettino stated, “We’ll check to see if he can return as soon as possible. You are already aware that he didn’t feel well and that the condition was a hernia. With the doctor, we will administer treatment.”
“It won’t present a problem for me. I believe he will rejoin the group as soon as possible. Following this development, Chelsea has ten players who are unquestionably out of the Wolves match, including captain Reece James, who will be out for four months due to hamstring surgery.”
Christoper Nkunku, who made his debut as a substitute in the victory over Newcastle, is one player who is back from injury, but Pochettino has ruled out the forward starting at Molineux.
