Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has praised the Dangote Refinery, calling it the “8th wonder of the world” and stating that it will ensure Nigeria’s energy security.
Otedola expressed his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, emphasising that the refinery will bring economic transformation to Nigerians and future generations.
He believes that by meeting the country’s demand for refined petroleum products, the refinery will not only ensure energy security and independence but also stimulate prosperity for the subcontinent.
The refinery, located in Lagos and owned by Africa’s wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote, has reportedly started operations with a capacity of 350,000 barrels per day.
The refinery has recently received its initial shipment of one million barrels of Agbami crude grade. This marks the beginning of a six-million-barrel supply to the refinery from multiple suppliers.
Otedola congratulated his close friend Dangote, praising him as a visionary patriot.
He said the refinery is “much more than just an industrial milestone; it’s a testament to the visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence of one of Africa’s finest and most dogged patriots.”
“I had a front-row seat as this vision was conceptualised and took shape. And I am familiar with the sleepless nights you’ve had to work through over the last decade to bring this dream to fruition.
“This refinery is a beacon of hope for millions of Nigerians and Africans. It is also at the vanguard of championing environmental sustainability,” Otedola said.
