Nollywood and its fans are plunged into grief following the untimely demise of Oyebamiji Tolani Quadri, fondly known as ‘Sisi Quadri,’ who passed away in Osun State on Friday, March 1.
The 44-year-old actor, hailing from Osun State, battled persistent hiccups resulting from a kidney ailment in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State.
Quadri’s educational journey began in Ore, Ondo State, before he ventured into the film industry. He commenced his acting career by joining a theater group led by Toyin Olaiya in his native Iwo, Osun State.
Popular for his candid and audacious roles in movies and skits, Quadri gained prominence in 2004 with the release of the epic Yoruba movie ‘Seranko Seniyan.’ His breakthrough came in 2020, when he starred in the movie ‘Ebudola’ alongside actress Funmi Awelewa. Quadri’s diverse filmography includes notable titles such as ‘Ololade Mrs. Money,’ ‘Toko Taya,’ ‘Big Brother Ibadan,’ and ‘Lepa Gawu.’
Apart from his acting pursuits, Quadri was also a skilled fashion designer and remained passionate about his craft, vowing to stay committed to it indefinitely. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife and two children, Hazani Olamilekan and Olamide Oyebamiji. Quadri’s passing comes only a year after the loss of his mother on February 22, 2023.
In the wake of his tragic departure, tributes poured in from both celebrities and fans. Actress Abiola Adebayo mourned the loss on her Instagram page, expressing, “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace. May God comfort all of your loved ones.”
Similarly, Kunle Afolayan conveyed his sorrow, remarking, “Sad! Sad! Sad! I’m not sure what to say or how to deal with this! There is a saying that ‘T’ibi t’ire la da Ile aye.’ This is just so shocking. May your soul rest in peace, Quadri,” alongside heartfelt messages from other prominent actors.
