An Indonesian aerospace company, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), has finalized a deal to sell four CN235-220 transport aircraft to the Nigerian military.

The agreement was announced at the recent Singapore Air Show, marking a significant milestone.

Under the deal, PTDI will supply four CN235-220 multipurpose aircraft to Allied Aeronautics Limited (AAL), a Nigerian company representing the Nigerian Army as the end user.

The CN235-220, known for its versatility, has been previously sold to other African countries like Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.

With a maximum take-off weight of 16,500 kg, the CN235-220 can transport fully equipped soldiers and paratroopers, as well as support medical evacuation and disaster relief missions.

PTDI highlighted the aircraft’s capability to operate from short, unpaved, and grassy runways, making it a popular choice for various military and humanitarian purposes.

“This order from Nigeria will then underscore Indonesia’s role as a significant defence partner on the African continent and its capabilities in defence manufacturing.

“This new contract for Nigeria is also one of our strategic steps to penetrate the markets of South Asian and African countries,” the firm said.
