NAFDAC Bursts Counterfeit Bottled Water Ring In Port Harcourt [Video]

Published:

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has discovered a fake bottled water operation in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. The operation was targeting the well-known brand Eva Water.

After receiving a tip, officials raided a run-down shop on Pipe Line Road, Eneka, which was disguised as a pool house. Inside, suspects were found producing the counterfeit water.

NAFDAC reported that used Eva plastic bottles were being refilled with contaminated water taken from a paint bucket. The water was then filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Fake Eva labels were placed on the bottles and sealed with counterfeit Eva corks.

Chibunna James was caught red-handed loading contaminated water for distribution, but the main culprit is still on the run.

The confiscated products have been taken to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.
