Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has made a significant decision by dissolving the State Executive Council.

The Governor‘s decision, which takes effect immediately, was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on January 24, 2024.

This dissolution applies to all members of the Cabinet, who have been instructed to promptly transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

In addition, the Governor’s directive also includes all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) appointed under his administration.

They are relieved of their duties with immediate effect and are required to hand over all government properties currently in their possession.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to the officials who were affected by the dissolution for their services and contributions to the state’s development during their time in office. However, the specific reasons for this sudden dissolution have not been explicitly stated, leading to speculation and discussions among political analysts and citizens.

There are indications that Governor Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office after the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, intends to run in the 2024 governorship election. However, it is unclear if his decision to dissolve the officials is directly related to his ambition to become governor.

Overall, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s statement acknowledges the officials’ contributions while leaving room for speculation about the reasons behind the dissolution.
