Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has narrated how she felt when her husband, Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W, informed her that he intended to enter politics.

Visitodell recalls that Banky W announced his intention to compete for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party on November 11, 2018.

On February 23, 2019, he lost the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency election to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress.

He ran for the same seat again in the 2023 elections on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, but lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Attah Thaddeus.

During a recent Hip TV interview, Adesua stated that she was originally “worried” and “disturbed” when the musician declared his ambition to join politics.

She then changed her mind, claiming that “purpose is more important than fear.”

She said, “When Banky said that he wanted to go into politics, I was a little bit worried and disturbed about it.

“But I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. And I want to see him fulfil purpose. So, he has my support 100 percent.”
