Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, recently disclosed that he spent approximately two years pleading with renowned rapper and YBNL Nation CEO, Olamide, before securing a record deal.
The ‘Mr Money’ singer recounted that Olamide invited him to his residence one day and proposed the idea of joining his record label. Despite initial hesitation, Asake expressed his excitement and promptly signed the contract, foregoing the advice to consult a lawyer as suggested by Olamide.
In an interview with Hip TV, Asake shared, “I had been pleading with Baddo [Olamide] since 2020 to sign me. One day, I got to his house, and he asked me if I would like to join YBNL. It was surreal, coming from someone I look up to and respect. I was ready to sign immediately, without consulting a lawyer, because of my deep love for the YBNL family.”
Asake officially became part of YBNL Nation in February 2022, coinciding with the release of his debut extended play, ‘Ololade,’ featuring the breakout track ‘Omo Ope’ with Olamide and the single ‘Sungba.’
