The Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD) Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has confirmed that suspected hoodlums looted its warehouse in Dei-Dei.

Earlier, Politics Nigeria reported that hoodlums had broken into a government-owned warehouse and stolen numerous food items and other goods due to the economic challenges in the country.

Zakari Aliyu, spokesperson for the ARD Secretariat, mentioned that the Secretary had visited the warehouse before the attack. He stated that the looters took everything from the warehouse and damaged the building by removing the roofs and windows.

Additionally, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, and Lawan Geidam, the FCT Mandate Secretary of the Agric Secretariat, are scheduled to visit the facility on Monday.

“We visited the scene of the incident this morning. We visited with the Secretary and some other officials of the Secretariat. So, by tomorrow, the Secretary I think with the Minister of State will pay another visit to that place,” he said.

“I am sure that a lot of information that will be useful to you, you will get it. If you can just be patient, tomorrow you will get all the information you need. If you go there, there is nothing there. If you know that place, do you know that they removed the roof, and the windows inclusive, apart from the food items?”, he added.

Earlier, this newspaper reported that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) denied claims that its warehouse in Abuja was looted.

NEMA stated that the Director-General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has ordered increased security at all zonal offices and warehouses across the country to prevent any security breaches.
