Frank Nweke, a former Nigerian Minister of Information and Communication, has commented on the recent situation involving Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a circular declaring Yahaya Bello wanted. This came after EFCC operatives failed to arrest Bello at his home in Abuja as part of a financial fraud investigation.
However, Bello’s successor, Governor Usman Ododo, helped him escape from his residence.
In a social media post, Nweke criticized Bello, saying he is a prime example of someone who should never have political power. Nweke mentioned that Bello lacked responsibility and awareness, was reckless in his speech, and mistreated the people of Kogi State during his time as governor.
He wrote, “The man is a specimen of those to whom political power must never be handed to. He carried on as if there was no tomorrow. The man had no sense of responsibility. It’s doubtful he had a sense of self-awareness. Public service and public trust meant nothing to him.
“He was reckless in his speech and his conduct. Kogi people were his slaves. Every and anything Kogi was his to do as he pleased. He only remembered he had a tenure when it ended. Now we know why he chose to squat with his successor, the new caitiff, in Lugard House.”
