Hardship: Don’t Make Harmful Comments Against Govt — Minister Warns Nigerians

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has warned Nigerians to avoid making comments that could worsen tensions and lead to violence.

In a statement released on Friday by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information, Press, and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, the Minister assured the public of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s ability, determination, and dedication to creating a safer and more secure nation.

Matawalle addressed concerns about economic difficulties and insecurity, highlighting the various policies implemented by President Tinubu’s administration to improve and modernize the economy while also ensuring the safety of the people.

Matawalle acknowledged the global challenges affecting Nigeria’s economy and assured the public that President Tinubu and his team are working hard to ease the burdens on the people.

He encouraged citizens to avoid making reckless statements and stressed the significance of unity, dialogue, and understanding in resolving differences.

The Minister also mentioned that President Tinubu has approved a committee to look into options like setting up State Police to improve crime prevention.

He emphasized the need for thoughtful communication during difficult times and urged Nigerians to focus on peace, tolerance, and national unity.

Part of the statement read:

“Dr. Matawalle said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has the capacity and political will and he is working round the clock to see that Nigeria is better and a well secured nation.

“The Minister also highlighted the various policies Tinubu’s government has put in place so far to reshape and modernize our economy and to secure lives, liberty and property of the people.

“Accordingly, Mr. President has given priority to the safety of citizens by equipping the Nigerian Military to function optimally while the Service Chiefs have also been charged to rebuild the capacity of the security Services.

“It is imperative for us as Nigerians to embrace dialogue and understanding in addressing our differences. We must remember that our strength lies in our diversity, and only through unity can we overcome the challenges facing our nation.

“Furthermore, the Minister said that Presi.dent Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is trying his best in tackling the economic challenges being experienced by Nigerians.

“Accordingly, Dr. Matawalle urged all citizens to prioritize peace, tolerance, and national cohesion in their words and action, as we collectively strive towards building a prosperous and harmonious Nigeria.”
