After the game ended 1-1, Fulham defeated Everton 7-6 in a penalty shootout to make their first-ever League Cup semi-finals after Tosin Adarabioyo‘s winning spot kick.

Everton defender Michael Keane gave Fulham the lead four minutes before halftime when he turned the ball into his own net. The home team didn’t equalise until the 82nd minute, with a goal from substitute Beto.

Both teams had good opportunities to win in regulation time, but after ninety minutes, with no difference between them, the game proceeded straight to a penalty shootout.

After both goalkeepers had made saves to tie the score at 6-6, Idrissa Gueye of Everton rushed his shot and struck the left-hand post. Adarabioyo, the centre back for Fulham, then stepped up to score the winner.
