In light of the economic challenges facing the country, popular Fuji artist Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has decided to cancel his annual birthday carnival for his 67th birthday on March 3.
Instead, the veteran singer encouraged his family and friends to use the occasion to reach out to the less privileged in society.
In a statement released on Thursday, February 29, 2024, K1 explained that his decision was influenced by the current economic state of the nation.
He stated: “I am set to turn 67 years old on March 3, 2024, a day that has traditionally been celebrated with joy by my friends and associates worldwide. However, given the prevailing circumstances in our country, Nigeria, particularly the hardship many are facing, I do not feel it appropriate to celebrate at this time.”
Acknowledging the temporary nature of the country’s challenges and expressing faith in better days ahead, he urged his loved ones to forego celebrations and instead use the occasion to assist those in need.
He emphasized: “Instead of joining me in celebration, I urge you to use this opportunity to lend a helping hand to those around you who are struggling. Even the smallest gesture can make a difference during this critical period in our nation’s history.”
K1 expressed gratitude to his supporters and assured them of his appreciation, concluding with a hopeful message for better days ahead.
