Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is supposedly being pursued by Turkish team Fenerbache in an attempt to “strengthen their squad.”
It occurs the day after Erik ten Hag revealed that discussions on a contract extension between the club and the French forward had taken place.
A “first offer of £6.8 million (€8 million)” has reportedly been made by Fenerbache to sign the 28-year-old Martial, according to Turkish site Takvim.
The Super Lig team is reportedly hoping to use its “good relationship” with United to help reach a lower pricing agreement, according to the outlet.
Using their positive relationship with the English powerhouse, the yellow-dark blue team hopes to bring Martial into the fold for a little sum, according to Takvim.
The teams have previously traded players; most recently, in the summer, United sold Fred to the Turkish Cup champions, and the Red Devils bought custodian Altay Bayindir from the Yellow Canaries.
Given that Martial’s contract with United is likely to expire in the summer, Fenerbache is also aiming to negotiate a low price for the player.
After moving from Monaco to Old Trafford in 2015, the 28-year-old attacker made 517 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 90 goals and dishing out 55 assists.
He only scored once in 12 appearances across all competitions during his six-month loan with Sevilla in 2022, failing to make an impression on the LaLiga team.
He was connected to West Ham, Inter Milan, and Fenerbache in the past, so there has been a lot of conjecture about whether he would stay or go.
Back in 2023, Real Madrid was also given the opportunity to sign Martial.
Following Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival last summer, which further lowered Martial in Ten Hag’s hierarchy, the Frenchman has only scored once in 13 Premier League games this season. Martial has also only started five times in the league under Ten Hag.
