Reports indicate that the infamous Ansaru terrorist group has seized control of the Birnin-Gwari forest along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
The Birnin-Gwari forest, located near the important Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, has become a hub for criminal activities, especially kidnapping, as the Ansaru terrorists use the dense cover to conduct their illegal operations.
This expressway, which connects the capital city of Abuja to Kaduna, has seen a rise in attacks, with innocent people becoming victims of the group’s reign of terror.
Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, has shared concerning statistics for the first quarter of 2023.
A total of 214 lives were lost in terrorist attacks, communal clashes, violent incidents, and reprisals across the state.
Furthermore, 746 individuals were kidnapped in areas like Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, and Kajuru.
The Ansaru terrorist group, known for its brutal tactics and connections to international terror networks, has established a stronghold in the Birnin-Gwari forest.
This strategic location enables them to effectively carry out attacks, targeting unsuspecting Nigerians traveling on the vital expressway.
