Senator Ahmad Lawan, the President of the 9th Senate, has urged military authorities to promptly investigate the deaths of three innocent civilians by soldiers in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade local government area in Yobe State.

In a statement he personally signed on Sunday, the former Senate President expressed his concern about the tragic incident.

Lawan, who currently leads the Senate Committee on Defence, emphasized the importance of the Nigerian Army taking action to hold those responsible for the violence accountable for their actions.

“Gashua community has always been a peaceful place with calm people, who always give support and cooperate with the military, paramilitary, and indeed all government agents operating in the town,”  he said.

He urged residents to remain calm and assured them that he had already contacted military authorities to ensure that those responsible for the incident would be apprehended and dealt with according to the law. He emphasized that justice will be served.

The lawmaker also expressed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic incident.
