EPL: Rampant Arsenal Thrash Burnley To Put Pressure On Liverpool

Published:

Bukayo Saka scored two goals as Arsenal defeated Burnley 5-0, closing the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to just two points.

Martin Odegaard, the visiting captain, started the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute after a pass from Gabriel Martinelli.

Saka then converted a penalty in the 41st minute, and Odegaard assisted him for a third goal in the 47th minute.

Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz also scored for Arsenal as they dominated the game, causing Burnley to struggle under pressure.

Arsenal’s dominant win marked the first time in the club’s history that they have started a calendar year with five consecutive league victories.

This is also the third time this year alone that they have scored five goals or more in a single match.

With this win, Arsenal now have 55 points from 25 games, trailing behind Liverpool by just two points after their 4-1 victory against Brentford earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Manchester City had 52 points from 23 games before their match against Chelsea later in the day.

Burnley, who are struggling and had midfielder Aaron Ramsey taken off the field with a potentially serious knee injury, remain second from the bottom with 13 points from 25 matches, seven points away from safety.
