The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is now wanted.
The announcement was shared in a circular released to journalists on Thursday by the anti-corruption agency.
“Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 billion.
“Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station,” the notice read.
Yahaya Bello, a 48-year-old Ebiraman from Okene Local Government in Kogi State, was described by the EFCC.
Reports from Naija News revealed that EFCC officials went to Bello’s home in Abuja on Wednesday to arrest him as part of an investigation into financial fraud.
However, Governor Usman Ododo, who succeeded Bello, helped him escape from his residence.
