A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a plastic bag on Alhaji Masha Road in Surulere, Lagos State.
A social worker from a local hospital heard the baby crying while passing by and discovered him in the bag.
The social worker immediately took the baby to Randle General Hospital for medical attention.
The baby is now receiving treatment and is said to be doing well. The Divisional Police Officer and a team from the family support unit also visited the scene of the incident.
The incident was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
He said, “The case of the day-old baby abandoned by unknown persons in a polythene bag was reported at the Surulere Division on April 15, 2024, around 1:40pm, by the social worker.
“The baby has been rescued and is responding to treatment. The Divisional Police Officer and a team from the family support unit visited the scene of the incident. The investigation is in progress.”
