Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, along with his colleagues, paid a visit to the elderly parents of the late Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings PLC, Herbert Wigwe, to offer their condolences.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State shared this information on social media.
The governor expressed his condolences to Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and his wife, Mrs. Stella Wigwe, for the loss of their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. He mentioned that he and his friends sympathized with them during this difficult time.
“In the company of Dr. Aliko Dangote and a group of close friends and associates, we gathered to express our heartfelt condolences to Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and his wife, Mrs. Stella Wigwe,” the governor stated.
“These sorrowful parents have suffered the loss of their beloved sons, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, Mrs. Chizoba, and his son Chizi, in a tragic helicopter accident.
“During this solemn visit, we fervently beseech God to grant eternal peace to the departed souls and bring solace to the grieving families they have left behind.”
During the visit, Dangote and Abiodun were accompanied by Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Chairman of Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Atedo Peterside, the Founder of Stanbic IBTC and Anap Foundation, and Prof Pat Utomi, a political economist, among others.
In the meantime, the United States authorities have stated that witness reports indicate that it was raining when a helicopter crashed in California near the Nevada border on Friday. The crash resulted in the deaths of Wigwe, his wife and son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group. Two other crew members also lost their lives in the tragic incident.
“Witness reports to the weather condition at the time of the accident suggest rain and a wintry mix,” said National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member Michael Graham at a briefing on Sunday.
