Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the fitness of Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash against Real Madrid.

Walker has been out for the last five games due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the international break, while Ake suffered a calf injury in the draw against Arsenal. Both defenders were in the squad for the recent game against Luton Town, and Guardiola has now given an update on their current status.

Speaking to reporters before the crucial match against Real Madrid, Guardiola said, “I am going to wait and see the training, and in the last one or two training sessions, see how he looks. But he looks good—his face, his mood. I don’t know from the bench, from the beginning [of the match], if he will be with us tomorrow. But that’s incredibly good news. We have the final training at 4, and then we will decide.”

The current champions of Europe will have midfielder Rodri back in their lineup after he was given a break for the Premier League match. The Spaniard asked Guardiola for some time off after feeling tired following the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

After playing against Carlo Ancelotti’s team on Wednesday, Guardiola’s team will face Chelsea in a crucial FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
