The 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE External) results have been released by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Council, stated that more than 70,000 candidates registered for the exam, with over 74,000 candidates actually taking it.
Key highlights of the results:
Gender Distribution: Male students make up over 52% of the candidates who took the exam, while female students make up over 47%.
Success Rate: More than 62,500 candidates, which is over 84% of the total, achieved five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.
Examination Malpractice: The number of exam malpractice cases decreased, with 8,500 cases in 2023 compared to over 11,000 in 2022.
Blacklisting: Two supervisors, one from Oyo and one from Lagos States, were blacklisted for poor supervision. Also, a center in Borno State was blacklisted for helping students cheat through WhatsApp messages.
During the announcement of the results, the NECO Registrar introduced an automated Annual E-posting Calendar.
This calendar will help the exam body assign staff to different tasks across the country.
