The government of Benue State has given its approval for the construction of two overhead bridges in the state capital, Makurdi.
The decision was made by the State Executive Council (SEC), as announced by Sir Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, during a briefing with journalists at the government house, where he discussed the resolutions reached.
Accordingly, the State Ministry of Works, Housing, and Urban Development has been instructed to develop a plan for awarding contracts for the construction of these two bridges. The bridges will be located at the Wurukum and High-Level Roundabouts in the state capital.
He stated that the government is planning to establish the Benue Public Service Institute (BPSI), which will be responsible for training and retraining Civil Servants to improve their performance.
Kula clarified that the Benue State Staff Development Center was created to train Local Government Civil Servants, not State Civil Servants. He added that most civil servants have not received any training for over thirty years, so it is necessary to establish the Institute. The Institute will also coordinate the State Civil Service Promotion Examinations.
Kula also mentioned that the SEC approved the restructuring of seven ministries to align with the federal level and support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Additionally, the SEC approved the construction of three major rural roads, one in each Senatorial District, excluding Makurdi, the Benue State capital, due to ongoing road construction there.
