Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Granada winger Bryan Zaragoza on a five-year deal for a reported £12 million.
The 22-year-old Spanish winger will team up with his new teammates next summer.
Zaragoza had drawn interest from European powerhouses Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, and Brentford.
Although there are some differences in reports regarding the precise transfer fee, Sport claims that Bayern has activated his £12 million release clause.
After a stellar debut La Liga season in which he scored five goals, Zaragoza made his Spain debut against Scotland in October. Since then, his reputation has grown.
He played a key role in Granada’s run for the second division title in the previous campaign and has been a rare bright spot in their miserable comeback to the top flight.
Despite the fact that Granada has only won one of their last 15 La Liga games and are currently 19th in the standings, his five goals and two assists tie him with more seasoned players like Joselu of Real Madrid.
His attempted take-ons rank him in the top few percent of wingers in Europe’s top five leagues this season. He has been described as a raw, direct-winger.
Zaragoza did not advance through the academy system, which can occasionally be sterilising for players with a “street football” style of play, and only joined Granada in 2019 after joining from a local team.
