Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has publicly apologized to the legendary musician King Sunny Ade for what was perceived as disrespect towards him during an event.

Nigerians took to social media to criticize Ayra Starr for her behaviour towards both King Sunny Ade and Burna Boy’s mother.

In a widely circulated video, Ayra Starr appeared to ignore Burna Boy’s mother while greeting another woman and then proceeded to greet King Sunny Ade by shaking his hand.

In response to the backlash, Ayra Starr posted a public apology on her official platform on Saturday morning. She explained that upon entering the event, she was momentarily disoriented by the bright lights and nervousness, which affected her ability to see clearly.

Ayra Starr clarified that the video in question began after she had already greeted Burna Boy’s mother. She expressed deep regret for any offense caused and extended sincere apologies to the esteemed musician, addressing him with warmth as “uncle” and “King Sunny Ade.”
